This is a question for the fink-users mailing list. I've installed a new 80 GB hard drive with 8 partitions on by beige G3. I'd like to install fink on one of these, so that I can have an entire partition just for fink applications, and so that fink is no longer in root. My question is: how do I do this? I can tell the installer to put fink on this partition (Volumes/GNU), and that works fine (the size of the partition is less than 8 GB), but then I have to, at a minimum, change the .cshrc, init.csh and fink.conf files so that /sw is replaced everywhere with /Volumes/GNU/sw. My question is: are there any other files or things that need to be changed to make fink work in this new location?
I'm presently using Adriaan Tijsseling's fstab trick to do this, but this requires mounting into root, which I'd prefer not to do. Robert R.
