Hello!

I´m just a user of fink and not a programmer, so forgive my naive
question. (It isn't a fink question) and maybe you wonder why I asked
this question here. The reason is that I can not subscribe to the
appropriate mailinglist because my ISP is classified as a
spamer/openrelay by http://www.dsbl.org/. :-( And my ISP did not care
:-(

I try to compile NUT from http://www.exploits.org/nut/ , this is a free
upsd for a lot of UPSs.
This software is not managed by fink.

It configures and compiles without a problem but everytime I try to run
it I get
"/dev/tyyblahblah is locked by another procces"

But I know it is not locked.

So here comes the question: How do locks work under 10.2.1?

Is it possible to fake locks or ignore locks?

Thanks,
        Christoph
