I am impressed by just how much stuff is available directly through
Fink. I am even more impressed, however, by everything available from
Debian proper. Naturally, x86 Debian packages aren't going to work on my
Mac.

I was wondering, however, if anyone knew how well it would work to add a
deb-src line to /sw/etc/apt/source.list that pointed to a Debian source
distribution. Would apt-get build-dep work? How about apt-get --build
source? Would the .deb packages it produces install into /sw, or would
it install wherever it would on Debian? Can we leverage the existing
Debian distribution like that?
