Sorry if this is a silly question. I looked at the fink-users
archives but couldn't find a solution.

For me, xdvi (installed from fink) has always complained about not
being able to find fonts (because mxtexpk is not able to generate
them). I always figured I was doing something wrong with mixing and
matching the fink-installed xdvi with the Weirda tetex distribution.

Recently, however, I did a completely clean install of fink for 10.2
on a completely fink-less system (brand new Powerbook G4, running
10.2.1) following all the instructions. Then I installed tetex-texmf and then xdvi
exclusively from fink (i.e., no TeXShop/weirda installations). (Of
course, I installed XDarwin before tetex, and it works fine).

my xdvi version is xdvi-22.62-1, and my tetex-texmf version is 1.0.2-6.

latex works fine, as does dvipdf and dvips (and the .ps and .pdf files
are perfectly readable). However with xdvi, I still get the mxtexpk
errors. I read the instructions from "fink describe xdvi". The lines
it says to add to /sw/texmf.cnf are already in that file, presumably
because I have a sufficiently recent tetex-texmf.

Any suggestion on what I'm doing wrong or what I am failing to do or
how to work around this would be much appreciated! Not being able to
use xdvi reliably is the single biggest thing holding me back from
migrating completely to OS X (from Solaris, where I do all my LaTeX
work).

Thanks in advance,

Prahlad
