So far it has been stable for me. BTW, xemacs builds and seems to run fine, except for a little nasty reftex-mode bug: it crashes when make-label is called, which happens often if, for example, you do a lot of texing with auctex. It has been discussed on the tex-osx mailing list a while ago.
