I was hoping some progress had been made regarding figuring that out.
I posted this to the maintainer, so hopefully he will respond in a timely manner :)
(Ok, so he's a volunteer, so I understand if he doesnt)
I don't think this problem will go away. Not unless the CVS is updated for this
particular item.
I don't mind getting my hands dirty trying to work this out but my experience is
limited. I'm open to suggestions if anyone know what I should try looking out for.

With the sed version that comes with 10.2 I get different errors but in
the same places.

the default sed, and an "unterminated 's' command" error with the
fink-installed one.
It eventually cleared itself up; I don't know how/why, or even what caused
it in the first place.
