i recently downloaded gnome 1.4 via fink (fink 0.4.1, OS X 10.1.5). i'm
new to it (only ever used twm or fvwm without any sort of desktop
environment in the past) so i've been looking through the manual, and i
noticed when i got to the section about the Nautilus File Manager that
what they're describing is clearly not what i have. the `Graphical File
Manager' i have doesn't seem to refer to itself as Nautilus, and while it
looks roughly similar to the screenshots in the User Manual, it's missing
a whole series of features (e.g. everything web-related) and menu items
(the menu bar in the User Manual goes "File Edit View Go Bookmarks
Services Help" while the one in my File Manager goes "File Edit Settings
Layout Commands Help") and the graphics aren't as good (that's the
least of my concerns). it looks like either i don't have Nautilus at all,
or i have an older, less advanced version of it. i checked, and the
User's Guide is for Gnome 1.4 (so it's not a matter of me somehow ending
up with documentation from 2.0). i can't find any mention of anything
like this on the Gnome website, and i looked around fink and it doesn't
look like there's a nautilus package that i failed to download with the
rest of gnome or anything like that. anybody know what's going on here?

thanks in advance for any help,
Tom
