I installed Bind9 w/ fink, configured it, enabled it with daemonic. Made my best guesses as to what should be in /etc/hostconfig and other files.
I could not find anything on how to move a standard service like DNS so it was controlled by daemonic instead of /System/Library/StartupItems and /etc/hostconfig. I think it started, but stopped because of some problems I should attend to -- yet when I restarted manually it works. This makes me think there are issues with the order. I'm assuming I need to do something to control the order of system daemons. I don't quite understand daemonic, it seems underdocumented. I like the notion of an XML set up, but I almost suspect I'd be better off just changing Apples' startup scripts.. -- Josh Kuperman [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by: To learn the basics of securing your web site with SSL, click here to get a FREE TRIAL of a Thawte Server Certificate: http://www.gothawte.com/rd524.html _______________________________________________ Fink-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-users
