[Fink-users] dpkg --config error

I already sent this to fink beginners and got no useful replies. Maybe someone here can help?

All I want is XChat. it has dependencies that are dependenet on things that trickle all the way down to passwd. When passwd tries to install I get the following:

% sudo dpkg --configure passwd
Password:
Setting up passwd (20020329-1) ...
/Applications/fink/var/lib/dpkg/info/passwd.postinst: update-passwd: command not found
dpkg: error processing passwd (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 127
Errors were encountered while processing:
passwd


any ideas?
