I can confirm this problem, but don't have a solution. It must be something
wrong with LyX and not with the X keyboard setup, because
(1) Alt works in xemacs
(2) Even in LyX, Alt does work in the dialog windows that appear when
exiting etc.
But whenever LyX awaits text input (either in the main window or in a dialog),
Alt doesn't work.
And still there is the additional problem that Escape doesn't work either, in
the newer versions of LyX starting from version 1.2.

Hi. I am a long-time LyX user on my Unix boxen at school, and I was
overjoyed when LyX was ported to MacOS X by fink. However, I cannot seem
to use the Meta-key shortcuts to access the menus. Anyone else have this
problem? For example, I should be able to type "Meta-F" and the "File"
menu should pop up, allowing further key-typing (or arrow-key hunting) to
select the desired menu item.
Thanks in advance,
Dan.
