I'm curious if the Fink general rule of thumb is such that if a Mac
running Fink is going to use just one unstable package, then does that
machine need to work off an entire unstable tree as required for
inclusion in the /sw/fink/fink.conf file?
Or, can a machine mix and match? For example, can /sw/fink/fink.conf
reference stable trees only, and at the same time, can an administrator
copy the .info and .patch files of an unstable package over to the
stable directory and install and run it that way? Is it too risky to
mix and match? Better to just go all stable or all unstable? Or is this
really dependent on a case-by-case basis?
Thanks for any suggested rules of thumb (if there are such)!
