hello,

First-Time poster here.

I have used fink since the OS 10.0 times, and very grateful for the 10.2 update. My previous version of fink had gotten all tangled,( crashing all the time, no white border around the black cursor etc...) was very happy at the chance for clean install, and took it.

It is working quite well for me, although I did have to repeat the process a few times before some of those earlier mentioned incomplete install problems worked themselves out. My only complaint/question is that certain packages are missing in the new version. I am set to have fink update via CVS but cannot install packages I I have loved using such as, amaya, windowmaker, links (ssl) , and I think some others.

I have windowmaker going by means of a cheater patch (the 6.x package from forked) - the other applications are by no means "Mission critical" to me, but they were very very useful. I checked on the Web site, and my guess is that these packages have not yet been ported to the 10.2 version. I just wanted to know if you were still planning to support the applications gone missing in the 10.2 version.

Sounds like there are fink developers on the list, I'd like to thank them for all of their hard work, and the excellent product they have put out for us. It truly makes OS X a superior computing experience. I love the 3 OS's at once feel.

one more question, has anyone been able to get arts working? I have to admit at not trying very hard so far, but here are my results:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
[12:01am dgetzin~]%artswrapper
using device Built-in audio controller for output:
with sample rate 44100.000000, 2 channels and 32-bit sample
unsupported device.
Error while initializing the sound driver:
Can't open stream for audio output
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

are there unsatisfied dependencies? Am I calling the wrong binary?- syntax errors? I assume that I have to call another audio output, or specified somehow but I don't know the flags for it. arts(wrapper etc..) --help brings up the same error messages.

Anyway, thanks for all your hard work developers, and thanks advance for any help on the questions.

thank you very much,

David Getzin
