I got similar explanations from Alwyn and Martin as to whether AquaTerm has resource fork or not. Now, I tarred /sw/Applications and untarred it to see if the explanations are right. And the result is ... Yes, they are right!

This puzzles me a little bit, though. At least, this is different from what I experienced on 10.1.x or 10.0.x, which I don't remember it was on anymore. For backup, I tarred /Users directory and was surprised later to know that it didn't work at all. I had a bunch of applications in "~/Applications Local" instead of /Applications. What I got was after untarring the /Users.tar.gz is JUST PLAIN UNIX FILES that didn't work as OS X applications anymore.

For sure, I've just tried out tarring /Applications/Stickiers and untarring it. How strange! it gets dearchived correctly!

Hmmm, seems like there was a change since 10.2 or somewhere. Honest, this is DIFFERENT from what I got before 10.2, and what made me think that AquaTerm has resource fork.

As you'll notice, it has an icon in Finder view. All that means is that it has resource folk, doesn't it?
No. Mac OS X applications typically consist of what are called 'packages' (which are not to be confused with Fink packages). If you right-click on the icon in the Finder, you should be able to select 'Show Package Contents'. This should display a folder called Contents. The icon file is likely to reside in Contents:Resources.
