Eh? I would say most of my updates involve only a trivial change to the version numbers, or perhaps some minor fixes. Its rare that "major porting work" is required for a version bump. Of course, it all depends on the package. If you are talking about KDE, yeah, theres major work there. :)
Maybe I am marked by my eternal (and largely unsuccessful) fight with scribus. Every new minor revision means redoing the patch file, trying out whether the old patches are still necessary, trying to understand why it doesn't build and/or run and so on. Maybe I should give this up and get a better perspective on life immediately :-)

And Greg was talking about evolution. Looks to me like Max has had to do some work there.
