Since our IT dept started using a virus scanning program University wide, we've been getting quite a few emails marked as "unscannable". Many come via Fink-users, I think mostly of European origin. Fink-users whose email normally is fine will come in Unscannable if they have replied to an unscannable email. A message is quoted below with its link to the page giving info on the scanning software

<snip>
The UB Central Email System Virus Scanner was unable to properly scan
this email message. This can happen for several reasons. The message
may be corrupt, it may contain a virus, or it may be a valid message
that is in a format that the Virus Scanner software does not understand.

As a precaution, the original message has been included as an attachment.
To help you decide if you want to open the attachment containing the
original message, here is a listing of the brief headers.

I had no problems with these emails with Netscape or OSX Mail prior to the start of these virus scans.

Does anyone else have problems with this list? I get a lot of mailing lists and this one is the only one that sends me messages with 'transfer errors' as Eudora calls them (which it indicates with a red X in the status column). I also get messages that are never retrieved by Eudora and which I need to log in to my ISP's webmail interface to delete on a regular basis...

I don't use Eudora, just the basic Netscape Mail, but I've had no problems.
