There is no error message further up. The problem is definitely caused by that directory being empty. I copied /sw/share/sgml/entities/iso8879/*.gml from another installation (my powerbook) which filled the directory and the install proceeded normally. Perhaps this is a bug, or a missed dependency, but even so it still makes no sense as I can't imagine anything other than fink adding or remove anything from that directory.
