This is because of the space in the file name. I don't know if this can be classified as a bug in texmacs, you cannot educate all Unix applications to accept file names with spaces IMHO. In this particular case, it might be possible to patch all the corresponding routines in the texmacs sources to put another pair of quotes around file names, but I am not sure if it will help, and I'd rather avoid this kind of work.

On the other hand, I tried just such a file, too, got the same error messages:

But still: The image was inserted, and texmacs did not freeze. So there must be something else going on in your case.
