Postfix on the mac tends to use the Netinfo database. I believe it's possible to set up the maps to use the older, more familar style, I just haven't....

in order to add a quick alias, go to : /Applications/Utilities/NetInfo Manager . You'll have to authenticate, but then you can look around...

look at the aliases table, and go to work..

Or, check out the postfix site, or the man pages, (or config pages) in /etc/postfix to change to the old way...

Hi,

First I just want to say that I migrated to Mac just a couple of days
ago, it was fink which convinced me doing so as I've been using
Debian Linux before. Great work guys!

To my problem, I have setup postfix through fink and I'm in the process
of installing mailman. however when I'm running 'newaliases' for postfix
I get 'postalias: fatal: open /aliases: No such file or directory' and
my 'postconf alias_maps' returns 'alias_maps netinfo:/aliases'.

I guess this netinfo is a good thing to have working in the Mac
environment so that everything is in synch? any ideas what is wrong or
what I should do? I was using exim as MTA before so postfix is also a
new experience.
