The page you found via google is actually obsolete:  when Jaguar came
out there was no binary distro yet, so everybody had to use unstable
source.

The Quick Start page is intended to get you running, well, quickly, and
therefore tells you to use the binary installer.  

3.8i.0-4 is now in stable, and will be in the new binary distribution
(0.5.2) coming soon.
