Mozilla will then crash (at least, it closes down), sometimes immediately,
sometimes after a few minutes, with an error like:

sw/bin/mozilla line 62: 28964 bus error &MOZ_PROGRAM ${1+"$@"}

completely unrelated. Other people have had this problem, too, but as far
as I know, there hasn't been an obvious solution--and not everybody has
had it: I've been using mozilla reliably for several versions now. My
best suggestion for you is to check the list archives and see what has
been suggested in the past--nothing sticks in my mind about this problem.

One idea to test: Stacksize limit (has come up several times in the past and recently again in the context of mysterious TeXmacs crashes)

Type

limit stack 8000

on the command line before you start mozilla (or "ulimit -s 8000" if you use bash as shell).
