Hi,

I just installed applesystemfonts, gimp-freefonts, gimp-sharefonts, and
msttcorefonts, and had the hardest time getting fink's xfree86-4.3.0-1
to recognize them.

I ended up adding "xfontpath enable" to my .xinitrc file.

I found that same functionality in /sw/etc/profile.d/xfontpath.sh, but I
get lost awfully quickly in Apple's/fink's/X's startup files and can't
figure out when it might run. I have ". /sw/bin/init.sh" in my
.bash_profile file.

So my question is: Is there a better/cleaner/recommended way to make
xfree86 recognize those fonts? Right now, I start XDarwin from the
Finder, and I have what I think of as a fairly regular .xinitrc: run
xdefaults, start the window manager and a bunch of applications in the
background, and exec an xterm at the end.

$ sw_vers
ProductName:    Mac OS X
ProductVersion: 10.2.6
BuildVersion:   6L60

$ fink --version
Package manager version: 0.13.0
Distribution version: 0.5.2.cvs

fink selfupdate-cvs pretty much every day; unstable trees enabled

Thanks,
Dan
