Indeed, as Apple announced, X11.app is included with the Developer
Preview.
In the past, sometimes Fink has stopped providing something when Apple
started providing it (like zlib), but other times we have continued to
provide a different or more recent version. I don't know yet what
we'll
do about X11.

David,

Fink provides a multi-threaded implementation of XFree. This version is
mandatory to run CDAT. I guess some of us would be very pleased that
you don't remove this one as long as X11 is not multi-threaded.

I hope this will be possible.

I hope too, that Apple X11 will be multi-threaded on day ....

Apple intends to sync with XFree86 at some point. I don't know whether
they will do this for 10.3 when 10.3 is released, or not, but they intend
to do it eventually. Until that time, Fink will certainly continue to
provide the XFree86 version as an alternative to Apple's.

The source to apple's 1.0 X11 is available I believe, and from traffic on the X11 list, it is multi threaded.

That is about all I know about it though.
