Whenever I try to install a package I receive the parse error in "`/sw/var/lib/dpkg/status' near line 1:" detailed below. I tried a fink selfupdate-cvs but it generated the same error when it went to update fink.
I tried fink index and fink scanpackages. I also tried copying 'status-old' to 'status' to no avail. I can't find what's used to generate a new 'status' in /sw/var/lib/dpkg.
Any guidance would be appreciated.
