if you change the symlink of gcc you can use gcc3
recall when you are under 10.2 before to compile for your machine
setenv MACOSX_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET 10.2
./configure --some --options make
i use gcc3.3 and i haven't any problems some packages have to much old patches
now some pkg needn't to be patched
for an example libpdf
ecetera
recall gcc flags
-shared === -dynamiclib
