So, after your selfupdate-cvs, what does "fink --version" give you? There
have been postings about failure to update fink itself.

It seems OK.

% fink --version
Package manager version: 0.13.2
Distribution version: 0.5.3.cvs

I forgot about your question on the other box: is its output from "fink
--version" the same?

Sorry, I don't have another box. Perhaps you meant the other poster (Geoff Smith)?

The same thing, sadly. :( I've "fixed" it by doing "fink
selfupdate-cvs", which seems to work just fine.

What happens if you remove CURRENT-FINK manually?

Hey, I get the same problem. Does anyone know how to fix it?

I have fink installed, but only version 0.12.1-1, or 0.5.2 (not really
sure about the numbering scheme). The results of a fink selfupdate
follow:

[stokes:~] gbsmith% fink selfupdate
sudo /sw/bin/fink selfupdate
Password:

(1) Delete it and download again
(2) Assume it is a partial download and try to continue
(3) Don't download, use existing file

The file "CURRENT-FINK" already exists, how do you want to proceed?
[1]
rm -f CURRENT-FINK
curl -f -L -O http://fink.sourceforge.net/CURRENT-FINK
% Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time
  Curr.
                                 Dload Upload Total Current Left
  Speed
100 6 100 6 0 0 17 0 0:00:00 0:00:00
0:00:00 0

You already have the package descriptions from the latest Fink point
release.
(installed:0.5.2 available:0.5.3)

The confusing thing to me is that it says I have 0.5.2 installed, and says 0.5.3 is available, and yet tells me I have the latest release.

Second question - when I run fink update-all I am informed that no
packages need updating, and yet on a different box, also with fink
installed, I have later versions of the same packages.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks -
