It always (I believe) produces a bad Makefile. Specifically,  while 
CD'ed to a directory above the xs directory it  compiles everything 
that goes into the xs directory without any output direction. The .c 
files are in fact in the xs directory, to be sure, but the .o files are 
created in the directory above it.

minus the library calls, it boils down to, e.g., cc xs/GtkList.c and 
then it looks for the .o file in xs:

cc: xs/GtkList.o: No such file or directory

It seems to do the same with build.

As far as I can tell, all the .o files it complains arent there are 
simply not moved or not produced in the right folder.

Has anyone successfully compiled gtk-perl-pm560?

I am running OS 10.2.6 with the December 2002 Dev Tools, the Java 1.41 
and 1.41 Developer Updates, Perl 5.60, gcc 3.3 20030304. Fink Package 
manager version: 0.13.3 Distribution version: 0.5.3.cvs.

I should add that g77 and gimp-perl won't compile for me either.
