So.... what , if anything, am I doing wrong here?

You probably aren't doing anything wrong. It is likely that file no longer exists at that URL. gunplot has likely been updated, and they moved that file to an archive somewhere and replaced it with the latest version.


Try a google on gnuplot-3.8h.0.tar.gz. You should be able to find it in several places. Download it manually and put it in /sw/src/. Then try the install again and Fink will see that the file doesn't need to be downloaded.

You need to find the exact same file name. Often you'll find close variations, but Fink won't accept any substitutes. Even if you change the name the checksum will be wrong.
