I've just received Panther by post. I wonder what is the best way to install it over10.2.8 build 6R73, so that I have a minimum to do for Fink and corresponding apps to work.

I spent most of last night and this morning (over here in sunny California) installing Panther and fiddling with Fink. I did the following:

1) Downloaded <http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=17203> and installed Fink 0.6.0 by running the bootstrap.sh script (instructions here: <http://fink.sourceforge.net/download/srcdist.php>.

2) Downloaded the distribution tarball <http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=17203> dists-0.6.0.tar.gz. The instructions say to run the inject.pl script, but it quit with errors[1], so I just copied the 10.3 directory into stable and unstables files into /sw/fink/. (Be careful. You can't just drag and drop 10.3 into /sw/fink. I actually had to go down into 10.3/stable/main/ and 10.3/unstable and copy those directories to their appropriate spots in /sw/fink/10.3.)

Good luck!
