How does one switch from fink's xfree86 (XDarwin) to apple's X11?
I believe I have upgraded fink to work with Panther (manually installing fink-prebinding to avoid circular dependencies). However, when I do a 'fink list | grep system-xfree86' I get nothing.
Some emails lead me to believe that these packages (the placeholders for manually installed X11 systems) no longer exist, and fink figures out if you have a pre-existing X11 installation. Is this the case?
Also, since I had XDarwin installed before, but then installed X11 and the X11 SDK with the XCODE, is it even possible for fink to figure out which X11 I'm using?
I'm prepared to blow away all the packages that depend on X and rebuild them-- I'm even prepared to blow away my fink installation; I just want to make sure that's necessary first.
I really appreciate all the work the fink team has put in to get ready for this new release, and all the work they're doing now to keep things running.
