I'm running fink 0.6.1 on a fresh Panther install. When I try to install xemacs via dselect, Fink indicates that it needs X11, and offers xfree86-base and system-xtools as options.

I've tried everything. As outlined in FAQ 8.12, I *DID* install the X11 SDK from the XCode CD. My most recent, most exhaustive test was the following:

1) Removed all of fink (rm -rf /sw, more or less... see caveat at the end)
2) Re installed Apple's X11 from Panther CD3
3) Re-installed X11 SDK from XCode CD
4) Installed Fink via 0.6.1 binary.
5) fink selfupdate (rsync, and I've also tried with cvs)
6) fink update-all
7) fink index
8) sudo dselect
9) dselect option 1 (setup mirrors)
10) dselect option 2 (update package list)
11) in dselect, choose "xemacs" package

At this point, I get the dependancies resolution screen, which wants to install something providing X11. I'm out of ideas... what else can I do?

One caveat - My system is partitioned, /Applications is on it's own partition, and I installed fink on that partition. This means that fink installer puts everything in /Applications/sw and creates /sw as a symlink to that location. When I did my fink uninstall, i did kill both /Applications/sw and the /sw symlink. I really don't want to try installing directly to /sw unless there's a good reason to, and fink appears to support this configuration (otherwise?)

Thanks,
Jason Clark
