Your Home directory is:

1. The same as your Home in the Finder
2. The directory that you're in when you start a new terminal window
e.g. /Users/yourusername

You can create a .xinitrc by following the steps in

http://fink.sourceforge.net/doc/x11/run-xfree86.php#xinitrc

Subject: [Fink-users] Where is.xinitrc file?

Thanks to Martin for pointing out the obvious in my post (Newbie Help).

What I'm wanting to do now is to have X start up with Gnome. I believe
that the Gnome bundle already installed Sawfish so I have a window
manager. Yes?

I know that I have to edit my .xinitrc file.

Where is the .xinitrc file and if I don't have one, what do I make one
with and where do I put it? I've read that it's in my "Home" directory.
Where is the path to that directory.

Thanks for the nurturing.

R
