Thanks for the tips.  I downloaded and installed the December 2002 Dev

I tried the command suggested, but just get "command unknown."  Any further
suggestions (especially how to select the 3.1 gcc if necessary) appreciated.

Hmm, .../usr/sbin/gcc_select 14,648 Fri May 16 07:12:25 2003 ====>/Library/Receipts//August2003gccUpdater.pkg/Contents/Archive.bom

Are you sure you installed the August2003gccUpdater and you have /usr/sbin in your PATH environment variable?
