Ah--I did some hunting around and apparently it's not available for Panther as of yet. That would explain it.

It is where I started but cannot find it.

fink list |grep moz
usual unix, no output

Tried fink commander and searched for browsers, none with mozilla, only GUI one was dillo.

thanks

You won't see Netscape--since it's for Aqua on OSX.

If you install the Fink mozilla package (I'm not sure if there's another Darwin/X11 Mozilla release) then it will show up--it's not included with bundle-gnome.

Expected to see Netscape or Mozilla or any other browser. Dillo is working under x11

Mainly I am trying to get a graphical browser - as opposed to w3m for example, and other multimedia applications which I assume will arrive when mozilla or firebird [my favorite non-Safari] or netscape does <g>

ls /sw/bin | grep net
 ls /sw/bin | grep mozi
 ls /sw/bin | grep dillo
dillo

Try it the crude way: "ls /sw/bin from a terminal. What applications did you expect to see?

Yes, the .xinitrc has the source, see data buried in message. Yes the working apps have menubars in their windows. Gnome terminal works just fine as does the calculator for example.

Gnome seems to work fine. The applications are just not there. locate does not find them and Find from the Aqua side shows no applications and looking in /sw/bin I cannot see any netscape related applications. Not just netscape. None of the multimedia ones either. It is as if all works except that the apps were not put in when I did the install.

Do your working applications have menubars and buttons on their windows? If not then no window manager is running. If so, GNOME is probably running twm, because it may be that sawfish isn't working on 10.3 (see the message from Pedro today).

Netscape won't be seen, since it's an Aqua application on the Mac rather than an X11 one, so that's unsurprising. You do have

. /sw/bin/init.sh

or

source /sw/bin/init.sh

at the beginning of your .xinitrc, right?

Hi,

New to this list but it looks great.

I am, as per subject using 10.3, latest fink, and the .xinitrc file listed by Pedro-Guerreiro yesterday.
source /sw/bin/init.sh
quartz-wm --only-proxy &
exec /sw/bin/gnome-session

Gnome opens fine but alas not applications in Internet or Multimedia or a few others. Calculator and many others there and functioning. No applications in /sw/bin locate does not find netscape or the other main applications. Looked in fink list and could not find anything to install for gnome that I do not have marked as installed. Fink Commander output at the bottom.

When I start up get 'not running GNOME compliant window manager' Checked and sawfish is installed but not running - do not think that these two items [lack of applications and wm] are related but ....

Thanks for the support.
