That's the standard behavior.  It happens to me on Jaguar also, I don't
know how you got around it.  When the parent process is killed (i.e.
closing the xterm window,) the children die as well.

Funny, it doesn't happen to me, neither on Panther nor on Jaguar. The orphaned child gets adopted by pid 1, /sbin/init. Probably a bash vs tcsh issue. I am using tcsh.
