Hi Dave;

I found a solution.  Swap Alt/Meta for the Xserver by apple.
This isn't necessarily the same as the Xquartz server but
I got the idea from the Xquartz manpage:

        defaults write com.apple.x11 swap_alt_meta -boolean true

or use the commandline option:

        -swapAltMeta

I just thought I would pass along the information, in case
it may benefit others.
