I can report seeing the same thing, but haven't been able to find a solution yet (which is why I didn't reply!).
The error appears to be within gnome-print itself rather than a particular printer setup, since I was also unable to print to a PDF or postscript file, either.
Abiword at least seems to print to a Postscript file (I wasn't able to check what happens if there's a printer available).
I get the exact same errors when I try to print from gnumeric. I saw that gnumeric 1.2.6 was out, so I created an .info file for it, but the same errors persist.
Abiword 2.0.3-21 prints fine for me, but a quick look at its .info file shows that it does not depend on libgnomeprint, which is what gnumeric seems to use.
