The problem was fixed by deleting and reinstalling fink from fink.sourceforge.net packages.
Thanks for your answer.

Hello,
I am trying to do a fink selfupdate on a MacOSX 10.3.2, using package manager version: 0.18.2 and distribution version: 0.6.2.cvs. It generates an error:

Unpacking the file dpkg-1.10.9.tar.gz of package dpkg-1.10.9-200 failed. The
most likely cause for this is a corrupted or incomplete download. Do you want
to delete the tarball and download it again? [Y/n] n
I have tryed several times without any result.
When i looked the Fink FAQ i found this question:
Q5.26: I get errors with gzip | dpkg-debI applications from the fileutils package! Help!
A: Errors of the form: gzip -dc /sw/src/dpkg-1.10.9.tar.gz | /sw/bin/tar -xf - ### execution of gzip failed, exit code 139
or gzip -dc /sw/src/aquaterm-0.3.0a.tar.gz | /sw/bin/tar -xf - gzip: stdout: Broken pipe ### execution of gzip failed, exit code 138
or dpkg-deb -b root-base-files-1.9.0-1 /sw/fink/dists/unstable/main/binary-darwin-powerpc/base ### execution of dpkg-deb failed, exit code 10 Failed: can't create package base-files_1.9.0-1_darwin-powerpc.deb
or segmentation faults when running utilities from fileutils, e.g. ls or mv, are likely to be due to a prebinding error in a library, and can be fixed by running
sudo /sw/var/lib/fink/prebound/update-package-prebinding.pl -f
So i tried, sudo /sw/var/lib/fink/prebound/update-package-prebinding.pl -f
And i got:
seg_addr_table: file: /sw/bin/gtar is not an object file
seg_addr_table: from seg_addr_table: /sw/var/lib/fink/prebound/seg_addr_table.tmp line: 12 can't open file: <<<
Can somebody help me to update fink?
Thanks for your help.

Here's another thing to try:
$ ls -l /sw/bin/gtar -rwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 429740 20 Jan 16:55 /sw/bin/gtar
Run the command above on your system and see if the size of the file looks the same. If not, then run "sudo apt-get install --reinstall tar" to reinstall Fink's tar.
