I deleted the /sw directory completely and then re-installed fink from source. I then installed ethereal-ssl and all its dependancies from source.
Thanks,

I start up Apple's X11 Application and type sudo /sw/bin/ethereal
And get all the same errors as before.
Could this be an environmental issue? Something to do with the environment in X11?
Here's a couple of ideas:
Have you ever used ethereal before on this computer? Set up gtk? Try moving your settings away and trying again. They're in ~/.gtk* and probably ~/.ethereal, look for other relevant dot-files.
If you can give us a backtrace, it might help. Just set DISPLAY and run 'gdb ethereal'. When the prompt comes up, type "run", then when it crashes type "bt". Post the output to the list.
