Have you configured TEXMF in /sw/share/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf? If not, configure it. Adding "TEXMF = /sw/share/texmf" after line 72 would be sufficient, I guess. Then, execute "sudo /sw/bin/mktexlsr" and try to install jadetex again.
Just executing "sudo /sw/bin/mktexlsr" fixed the problem like a charm. Thanks!
