Thanks for the quick input Dave and Alexander. Apparently, both ctan-other-misc and ctan-supported-misc have dependencies on system-tetex which I was unaware of. I removed both packages and system-tetex was intalled with no further problems.

I removed the packages dependent on system-tetex prior to updating, and after the first try I erased the new info file and updated again with the same result. Can anyone make a suggestion?

I am running:

Package manager version: 0.20.0
Distribution version: 0.7.0.cvs
OSX 10.3.3

Apple X11, Xcode1.1 with all SDK's

Looks like ctan-supported-misc should have a dependency on system-tetex too.
You'll need to remove it before updateing.
