Hi

I'd been using grace, the xy data plotting software, for quite a long time without any problem on my mac, OS X.2.8 with grace installed from sources from the fink ports tree, when suddenly, seemingly after I made some other installations with unknown side effect, xmgrace refuses to work and quits with:

The software was built with LessTif, but is running with Motif!
We don't support binary Motif/LessTif compatibility.
Use a semistatic binary or compile Grace yourself!
Failed initializing GUI, exiting

this seems to be a failure in my installation, as grace had run before and the LessTif libraries are properly (?) installed and no other software refuses to work. I installed grace again from sources and it compiled without complaining. So my question is simply what makes grace believe that Motif is installed and not the LessTif libraries. Any switch anywhere ?
How can I test my system for the proper X setup needed for grace (the problem persists no matter whether I use the apple X11 or Xfree and KDE).
Help is badly needed because I prepared all my data with this program and need to open the files within the next days.

Thanks

Is it possible that you somehow have Motif installed in /usr/local ? Try moving /usr/local to another location temporarily to see if that allows xmgrace to run.

sudo mv /usr/local/ /usr/local.moved/

Good luck,
