I just googled for this error message, and found it may have something to do with installing the gcc long branch tools (which installs a new /usr/lib/dylib1.o) and then reverting to an older xcode.
Anyway, send your colleague your copy of /usr/lib/dylib1.o (or tell him to get it from /Developer/SDKs/MacOSX10.3.0.sdk/usr/lib/dylib1.o (which should be the original) and see if the problem disappears.
