This should go in the FAQ, but isn't there yet.
Some of the choices are:
-ssl: The versions whose names end with -ssl have cryptography. If you want cryptography use this version. And if you pick one choice to be -ssl, all should be.
-nox: The versions whose names end in -nox lack support for X11. This is primarily a way to speed things up and save disk space. If you're building something that uses X11, I'd recommend against the -nox variants.
There are also some where two versions of a package are available (e.g. python22 vs python23). I generally pick the higher-numbered one.
