well.
I'm running Mac OS X.3.4 and fink 0.20.6 with the latest package
descriptions from CVS. I have the latest versions of the following
packages installed: tetex and -base, -dev, -shlibs, -texmf; and lilypond.
(I remember having tetex-macosx installed at some point in the past, but I
can't install that now because fink says that it can't find a package
description for it.)
Anyway, when I run, e.g., `lilypond keys.ly':

I tried to run `latex keys.latex', and I got this:

| mv: cannot move `latex.log' to `/sw/var/lib/texmf/web2c/latex.log':
Operation not permitted

| mv: cannot move `latex.fmt' to `/sw/var/lib/texmf/web2c/latex.fmt':
Operation not permitted
| I can't find the format file `latex.fmt'!I went to /sw/share/texmf and did a `sudo texhash', but that didn't seem
to fix the problem. (I've installed a couple of packages in
/sw/share/texmf/tex/latex manually; could they be causing such problems?)
I asked this question on the lilypond mailing list, and I was advised to do a `fmtutil --all'; I did this with and without sudo, and I got this:
| fmtutil: config file `fmtutil.cnf' not found.
I have rebuilt tetex, tetex-base, tetex-texmf, and lilypond a whole bunch
of times, but the problem was never resolved. Does anyone have any idea
what the problem might be, and how I might fix it? Many thanks!
