This email is about the problem reported by Brian Granger and partly
answered by Martin Costabel, namely that after doing a simple TeX install
using the i-Installer, and then trying to do "sudo fink install
system-tetex" to get the placeholder, Fink complains that

"You don't have a valid teTeX installation; you were missing
/usr/local/teTeX/lib/libkpathsea.a ..."

Costabel is indeed right that the problem is that the simple install
doesn't add some extras.

Just go back into the i-Installer, select TeX, select expert, select "TeX
Programs (developer extras)" and install that.

Then go back and do the fink install system-tetex.
