I did not have this issue when updating my machine at work--only here at home. I recently changed to a different ISP (cable to DSL), so I'm wondering whether that might be involved. I've had a few intermittent glitches with my e-mail and ftp performance (hangs when attempting to upload, unless I quit and restart the application) that might be related to this change of service.
