You could try
sudo apt-get -f install
This should fix the broken dependencies by removing the orphaned packages.

Martin,
I think I finally got rid of all that KDE stuff, but your suggestion didn't work:
sudo apt-get -f install kdeaccessibility3-base kdeartwork3-base kdegames3-base kdegraphics3-base kdenetwork3-base kdepim3-base kdesdk3-base kdetoys3-base kdeutils3-base
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Sorry, kdeaccessibility3-base is already the newest version.
Sorry, kdeartwork3-base is already the newest version.
Sorry, kdegames3-base is already the newest version.
Sorry, kdegraphics3-base is already the newest version.
Sorry, kdenetwork3-base is already the newest version.
Sorry, kdepim3-base is already the newest version.
Sorry, kdesdk3-base is already the newest version.
Sorry, kdetoys3-base is already the newest version.
Sorry, kdeutils3-base is already the newest version.
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 110 not upgraded.
I then decided to try sudo apt-get -f remove kdelibs3-ssl-shlibs kdelibs3-shlibs, and that worked. Hopefully this hasn't messed anything else up.
Thanks for your advice,
Kevin Horton
