This is probably a FAQ somewhere, but I haven't been able to find it in the documentation ...

When I try "fink update-all", xfree86 and xfree86-shlibs show up in the list of packages to be installed ... and if I go ahead, installation of xfree86-shlibs fails because it conflicts with a previously installed version of xfree86-rootless-shlibs. Updating xfree86-rootless or xfree86-rootless-shlibs, on the other hand, results in a message that nothing needs to be installed.

If my mental model of how dependencies work is correct, there must be some package that is calling for xfree86-shlibs and is not (but should be?) satisfied by xfree86-rootless-shlibs. Right? And if that part is right, then presumably there is some way to figure out which other package is demanding xfree86-shlibs. And then ... is it possible that there is a legitimate reason for not accepting xfree86-rootless-shlibs, or is this a bug in a package description?

In case it's relevant, the vital stats of my installation are:
   Mac OS X 10.3.5
   Fink 0.22.1
   xfree86-base 4.2.1.1-4
  xfree86-base-shlibs 4.2.1.1-4
  xfree86-rootless 4.2.1.1-4
  xfree86-rootless-shlibs 4.2.1.1-4
gobs of other packages (most recently added db42)

Any advice on what my next trouble-shooting step should be will be appreciated.
