Hello and thanks for your help. I did

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

today and it opted to update quite a few packages, much to my surprise, especially since I am setup to only do stable. So, they updated, but it mentions that it has not upgraded 7 packages. Here is the output. Note that this is long after all of the upgrading.

tibook:~ iqgrande$ sudo apt-get upgrade
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
The following packages have been kept back
clisp gnome-mime-data gnome-print gnome-print-shlibs gnucash grace maxima
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 7 not upgraded.

I am wondering why it keeps mentioning the 7 not upgraded. The following is my info (note that I only use apt-get and/or dselect, with the occasional fink cleanup):
Mac OS X 10.3.5 / XCode 1.5
tibook:~ iqgrande$ fink -V
Package manager version: 0.21.2
Distribution version: 0.7.0
