You probably want to turn off antialiasing. However, I have no idea how to do that since I always wanted to do exactly the opposite which was achieved by compiling software with support for aa. It should be possible to turn it off somehow, one trick that comes to my mind is setting the minimum font size that can be antialiased to a very large value. Some programs/environments allow that. It may be also possible to change the antialiasing settings to get sharper but still antialiased fonts. I beleive the software responsible for antialiasing is freetype in most cases in fink. But I never found the default so bad I would want to change it. On the other hand, I wish I knew how to configure the antialiasing in Aqua which I find terrible.
